As everyone will tell you, oatmeal is a great food to help increase milk supply. I need a variety vs. having oatmeal every single day. I put my dry oats in different breakfast items to make sure I get the oats without the mundane hot oatmeal every day.
My go to breakfast is and probably always has been, cereal. After adding my cereal of choice, I pour some dry oats (usually just the minute oatmeal) to the top of my cereal. I like to add flax seeds and some protein powder also. The protein powder soaks up the milk, so add some extra if doing this. I also recommend adding some fruit (banana, blueberries).
I’ve been buying a protein powder for breast milk supply, but any will work. This is totally optional considering it makes the cereal really thick. It is definitely an acquired taste. If I don’t want the thickness, I typically just do the cereal and oats with some oat milk.
Another option is in your yogurt. I pick a lower sugar yogurt and add the dry oats to the bowl with some fruit. This makes the oats less dry when eating them raw. I add pecans to my yogurt too to ensure I get an extra boost.
Overnight oats are yummy, but don’t over make it. I find myself over zealous when making these and always end up making too much. In a mason jar, add some nut butter, milk (or oat milk), oats, fruits, seeds, honey or maple syrup, and anything else you’d like in your oats. Let it sit in the fridge overnight, mix in the morning, and enjoy. These keep you full for a while too!
